Guide to Your Solar Bill
Welcome to the Solar Billing Plan! Now that you’re interconnected, you’ll see some changes to your bill. Use this guide to learn how to read your statements and how to use the information on your bill to make the most of your new solar-generating system.
What’s On Your Monthly Bill
Your solar bill will look different from a standard electric bill, but it can be easier to understand when you know where to look.
As a Solar Billing Plan customer, your bill will include electricity charges, credits for extra energy sent to the grid and eligible taxes and fees. Credits help lower eligible charges, but some charges may still apply each month.
Your bill may include unfamiliar terms, most of which we will explain below. For a glossary of solar terms, visit How to Speak Solar.
Amount Due
This is the amount you need to pay and when you must pay it by to avoid a late fee.
Your Account Summary
Any activity on your account during the previous month, including charges like taxes, set fees and the cost of any electricity you used from SCE during that month.
Time-of-Use Information
Solar customers are on the Time-of-Use PRIME (TOU-D-PRIME) rate plan. On this rate, the price of electricity varies by cost period. The chart shows how much electricity you used during each period, the average price during those periods and how these charges contribute to your total bill.
Your Past and Current Usage
This shows your average daily energy activity over time. Electricity Usage is the average amount of electricity you used from SCE’s grid during the month. Export Generation is the average amount of electricity your solar panels sent back to SCE’s grid during the month.

Details of Your New Charges
This section provides a breakdown of how your bill was calculated. These charges and credits include:
- Delivery charges: cost to deliver electricity to your home
- Generation charges: cost to produce the electricity you use
- Solar Billing Plan credits: credits you earn for sending solar energy to the grid
- Other charges and taxes: monthly fees or taxes that may apply
Annual Settlement Bill
Once a year, you may receive a settlement bill, also called a True-Up bill. This bill reviews your solar account for the past 12 months, including how much electricity your home used from the grid, how much extra energy your solar system sent to the grid and how much you received in credits.
If your system sent more energy to the grid than your home used during the year, some credits applied to your monthly bills are adjusted. On your bill, this may appear as an “EEC Adjustment.”
Your True-Up settlement will appear on your regular monthly bill.
